Dual-Wavelength Pumped Highly Birefringent Microstructured Silica Fiber for Widely Tunable Soliton Self-Frequency Shift

We report the design of a microstructured silica-based fiber for widely tunable soliton self-frequency shift, suitable pumping with two most common laser wavelengths: 1.04 {\mu}m and 1.55 {\mu}m. Depending on pump source, output spectrum can be continuously tuned up to 1.67 (pump at {\mu}m) or 1.95 in same 1.5 m-long sample, pump-to-soliton conversion efficiency higher than 20%. The is highly birefringent, which results an excellent polarization extinction ratio soliton, reaching 26 dB. shifted solitons have high degree coherence confirmed by pulse-to-pulse interference measurement. available tuning range covers wavelengths inaccessible lasers, e.g., 1.3 1.7 {\mu}m, important multi-photon microscopy imaging. Our work shows that it possible fabricate one universal optical supports shift when pumped different separated over 500 nm.

We demonstrate a fibre laser source generating ultrashort pulses tunable in the range 2-2.5 μm. The source is based on a hybrid Er/Tm fiber laser system and microstructured suspended-core tellurite fiber where Raman soliton shifting occurs. Wavelength conversion in a highly nonlinear chalcogenide microstructured fiber.

We report on all-optical wavelength conversion of a 56 Gb/s differential quadrature phase shift keying signal and a 42.7 Gb/s on-off keying signal. Wavelength conversion is based on four-wave mixing effect in a 1 m long highly nonlinear GeAsSe chalcogenide fiber. The high nonlinearity of the fiber allows low-power penalty operation with a total average power of less than 60 mW.
